Analyzing the Impact of Universal Basic Income on Poverty Reduction: Global Case Studies
Abstract
This paper examines the impact of Universal Basic Income (UBI) on poverty reduction through a series of global case studies. It addresses the rising income inequality and social exclusion, positioning UBI as a potential solution. The study analyzes the implementation and outcomes of UBI initiatives in five countries, highlighting their varying effects on poverty alleviation and economic stability. A mixed-methods approach is employed, integrating quantitative data and qualitative insights to assess the efficacy of UBI programs. The findings reveal that UBI can lead to significant reductions in poverty, enhance social welfare, and promote economic mobility, albeit with context-specific challenges. Key themes identified include the importance of logistical coordination, public support, and appropriate design tailored to local conditions. The paper concludes with policy recommendations emphasizing sustainable financing mechanisms, community engagement, and continuous evaluation to ensure the success of UBI initiatives. By illuminating the multifaceted effects of UBI, this research contributes to ongoing discussions on innovative welfare policies and their potential to reshape social safety nets globally.
